Happy Tail – Karma!

Best day ever was going to Homeward Pet to find the perfect companion!!!  We went there wanting to find a young dog, but after looking we remembered how much work they are. We looked at a few dogs and then we saw “Karma”!!!  She is an older dog (8 yrs.) and looked so lonely. Now she’s a big part of our family!  She’s happy, healthy, funny and very well-behaved!  Follow our lead and make the trip to Homeward Pet! 🐶💜💚💙💛😈

Celebrating Woodinville!

The ‘bright blue crew’ at Homeward Pet recently joined in the 2015 Celebrate Woodinville Parade.   We met a lot of great supporters, the shelter dogs had the time of their lives, and Woodinville Weekly honored Homeward Pet Adoption Center as Best Animal Entry!

Emergency Supplies for Eastern WA

This morning, our Facilities Manager, Paul, loaded a pickup truck full of emergency supplies for people and pets displaced by the fires in Eastern Washington.  Our dog and cat food, crates and other supplies are headed to Del’s Feed and Farm Supply in Monroe – a collection point for donations from shelters throughout the Northwest – where they’ll be loaded on a big truck and driven across the state to be used, managed and distributed by WASART.  WASART (Washington State Animal Response team) is one of the country’s most-respected animal emergency responders, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that helps companion animals and livestock out of immediate crisis and dangerous situations.

Microchip Success Story

This afternoon, a good Samaritan came in to surrender a cat she found in June and, after looking for an owner, couldn’t keep.  While having his intake exam, we scanned him and found a microchip.  We called his contact info and his owner, who’d been missing him since October 2014, rushed here within the hour to be reunited with her lost BFF (Best Four-Legged Friend).  Pictured is Titan and Tricia’s happy reunion.

Homeward Pet offers reduced cost microchipping every Tuesday, 10am-2pm, for just $20 (including registration).  No appointment necessary.  Get more details here.

Happy ‘1/2 Birthday’!

Sarah and her grandmother celebrated Sarah’s ‘1/2 Birthday’ with a generous donation to help care for the animals at Homeward Pet, and a trip to the Cat Room to meet one of our wonderful senior felines, 13-year old Cooper.  Thanks, Sarah!

Seattle Is For Dogs!

The City of Seattle is in the process of developing an Off-Leash Area Strategic Plan to meet present and future demands and needs of Seattle dog owners. The first part of that process is to better understand your desires concerning dogs and Seattle park facilities.

Complete this survey to give your input, and you will become eligible for a lottery drawing of a gift certificate and park coupons worth $250.

With your help, Seattle can be a great place for dogs and their owners.

Vote For Carolyn!

Congratulations to Homeward Pet volunteer, Carolyn, who has been nominated for the Volunteer Award of Excellence at the inaugural FUTY (From Us To You) Festival, sponsored by Mud Bay, and honoring animal shelter workers throughout the Pacific Northwest.  Now – she needs your vote!  Go to mudbay.com to read more about Carolyn and cast your vote for a truly outstanding volunteer.  The three top vote-getters will be announced at the FUTY Festival on August 23rd, and receive a $1000 prize, which Mud Bay will match with a $1000 donation to their shelter!

Oops!

Shelter work is not all glamour and games.  This is our Shelter Manager Erin’s leg after a recent run-in with a newly-arriving canine with a full bladder.  Hey, you don’t always know where the bathroom is when you first get here!

Lip-lickin’ good!

A huge THANK YOU to Wet Noses, The Organic Dog Treat Company located in Monroe, for their donation of a van-full (literally!)of tasty treats for our canines.  Homeward Pet alum Newton, with Facilities Manager Paul, is a big fan.
