We’re on the road to recovery! Kendall and Jackson’s story
When visitors come to our shelter to adopt, they see robust and energetic kittens and often have no idea what horrible condition many kittens were in when they first came through our doors. Here’s Kendall and Jackson’s story:
These two sick little brothers via transfer from the Everett Shelter a few weeks ago. Their fur camouflaged their starving, skin and bones bodies underneath. They were said to have been four weeks old, probably guesstimated because of their weight. They were actually closer to 7 weeks old. Their ears were impacted with ear mites, they were covered with fleas and extremely timid.
Because of their extreme condition, we have kept them in our clinic rather than send them to foster. In order to get them to eat, they needed to be coaxed and sometimes force fed. Jackson was the first to figure out that humans were okay and has been thriving. He went from weighing a little over a pound to two and a half pounds and is now friendly, playful, and happily a little on the chunky side.
His brother Kendall with his big, soulful eyes has been a bit slower and weighs about a pound less. He now is playing and purrs and purrs when he is brushed- his favorite thing in the world. These two little guys have stolen the hearts of Homeward’s staff and volunteers. We hope that it is just a matter of time before they are both well enough to find their forever home together. Their new owner will be blessed with two adorable kittens who are lucky to be alive!
