FAQ’s

1. Is this a dog walk… or a wine-tasting event?

BOTH! This is a fun and relaxing dog walk to benefit one of Washington State’s leading no-kill shelters, Homeward Pet Adoption Center. And because Homeward Pet is located in Woodinville Wine Country, it just makes sense that our dog walk gives you a chance to visit some of the area’s best wineries.

2. Do I need to register in advance?

Yes! Registering in advance will reserve your spot in the Happy Tails Wine Walk, guarantee that you get your Wine Walk goodies – Happy Tails dog bandana, tasting wine glass, and wine-tasting tickets – and streamline your day-of check-in. Online registration will be available until Thursday, September 5th. We will also have registration available at the check-in stations the day of the event, if not sold out, for an additional $5.

3. What do I need to bring?

If you will be tasting – please bring your ID!  We are required to check IDs before handing out your event wristband and tasting tickets.

4. What if I don’t have a dog to walk?

No Problem!  You will make plenty of dog friends along the way.  The Homeward Pet dogs will not be available to ‘borrow’ for the walk as they will need to remain at the shelter to ensure they don’t miss the opportunity to find their forever homes during one of our busiest adoption days.

5. Where is the Woodinville Hollywood Wine District?

The Woodinville Hollywood Wine District is named for what locals refer to as “the old Hollywood Schoolhouse”, a beautiful 1912 building in the heart of the district located just southeast of downtown Woodinville. The wineries participating in the Happy Tails Wine Walk are all within easy walking distance of each other.

6. What time do I need to be there?

Homeward Pet’s Happy Tails Wine Walk is Saturday, September 7th, 1pm – 4pm. It’s not a race, or a timed event, there’s no set course and we don’t even have a starting line. You can arrive anytime during the event hours and go at your own pace, walking your dog, spending time with animal-lovers and friends, visiting the vendors and dog-centric organizations in the Dog Zone, and tasting amazing wine and beer. VIPs are invited to start an hour early, at 12pm, to join us in the exclusive VIP area at the Wine Garden at SilverLake Winery.

7. Where should I park?

Parking will be available on the west side of Woodinville-Redmond Road. Please park in an orderly fashion to leave room for as many cars as possible. First come, first serve parking is also available at the Northshore Athletic Fields off NE 145th Street. Please avoid parking in any tasting room or business parking lots as those lots are reserved for wine club members and business patrons.

8. Where do I check in the day of the event?

Want to skip the check in line? We are providing an advance check in option where you can pick up your glass, tasting tickets and swag ahead of time, which will allow you to simply park and hit the pavement on Sunday, September 8th without the hassle of checking in!  Take advantage of advance check in and receive 2 additional tasting tickets! Advance check in will be available at Homeward Pet Adoption Center on Thursday, September 5th 4:30-6:30pm and Friday, September 6th 10:30am-12:30pm.

If you choose not to use advance check in, there will be 2 check in stations available day of in the Dog Zone located at Forgeron Cellars – 14344 Redmond-Woodinville Rd NE.

VIP guests will check in at SilverLake Winery starting at 11:45am.

9. Can I drink while I walk?

No. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed on winery premises. We would not want our Happy Tails participants to go home with a $103 ticket.

10. Can I purchase a bottle of wine at this event? Can I drink it at the event?

Taste a wine or beer you like? Stock up! Homeward Pet receives 10% of specified bottle sales at participating tasting rooms. Purchase bottles and our wine runners can transport them to the
Bottle Pick Up Tent so you can keep your hands free to enjoy the event! The Bottle Pick Up Tent is located in the Dog Zone. Bottle runners will stop service at 4pm, any bottles purchased after 4pm need to be carried. Bottles will be available for pick-up one hour after purchase and until 5pm. Any bottles not picked up at the end of the event will be transported to Homeward Pet at 13132 NE 177th Place and will need to be picked up within 1 week. You may not open purchased wine at the event.

11. Is this a kid-friendly event?

While this event is not kid-focused, kids who are comfortable around dogs are more than welcome to join the fun. There will be dog-focused activities, fun vendors and prizes in the Dog Zone.

12. Are dogs welcome at the wineries?

Of course! They’re supplying the “happy tails!” We encourage well-behaved, on-leash dogs to walk with their families. All participating wineries either welcome dogs in their establishments, or will have outdoor seating available for you and your four-legged friend(s). Please refrain from using retractable leashes.

13. What’s the Dog Zone?

The Dog Zone features vendors, demos and dog-related professionals offering treats, advice, goods and services for dogs and humans. The Dog Zone is located on the lawn at Forgeron Cellars at 14344 Redmond-Woodinville Rd NE and will be open from 1-4pm.

14. Will there be an off-leash area for dogs?

No. Unfortunately, there is no safe, secure space for an off-leash area. You’ll want to make sure your high-energy dog gets his daily exercise before coming to the walk.

 15. Will there be other beverages besides wine?

Yes. All participating wineries will have water available.  Bottled water will also be available at the Homeward Pet Information booth in the Dog Zone. We also have a few breweries offering beer tastings for the non-wine drinkers.

16. Will there be food available?

Yes! Several area restaurants will be open for business during the Happy Tails Wine Walk. Puft Bubble Waffle Food Truck will also be joining us!
