Whoopi’s Special Needs
Homeward Pet takes in dogs and cats with medical needs beyond the standard spay/neuter & vaccination. Whoopi’s Fund helps pay for major surgeries and medicines and treatments for those animals. In the past year, Whoopi’s Fund has covered the cost of ACL, cataract and entropion surgeries, and paid for x-rays, ultrasounds and emergency veterinary care for dozens of cats and dogs.
Your contribution to Whoopi’s Fund will help improve the quality of life of those homeless dogs and cats with special needs in our care.
Why Whoopi’s Fund?
Whoopi was a very special black Lab. Peggy Noll, Homeward Pet’s Community Development Director and Whoopi’s guardian in her later years, shares Whoopi’s story:
Before arriving at Homeward Pet, Whoopi had spent her entire 10 years chained outside – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – with very little human interaction. For the next five short years, my life was enriched with many happy memories of us together: playing fetch, going to off-leash parks, walking along Alki, and eagerly greeting every Homeward Pet visitor. I know Whoopi had a great life in her final years. The kind of life we want all homeless cats and dogs to have when they leave our care at Homeward Pet.
Every animal deserves a home. Every animal deserves health. Every animal deserves the great life that Whoopi had in her senior years.
That’s what Whoopi’s Fund is all about.
