Become a Foster Family!
We’re currently looking for more families to join our Dog Foster program, so that we can help more homeless dogs. Being a foster family can be a fun and rewarding experience:
“We are having so much fun with this little guy. Champ is an absolute sweetie pie and is super smart! He is really playful and loves to play fetch. If you don’t play fetch with him, he’ll throw the toy for himself. It’s the funniest thing! Champ has really bonded with our resident dog, Sadie Girl. She has gone from tolerating him, to accepting him, to genuinely liking him. The first night, she let him lay down on a corner of her pillow. Now wherever she goes, he follows, and she allows him to crawl all over her. He has been doing very well on his potty training and hasn’t had too many accidents in the house. He is great in his crate and very rarely has an accident in there. Usually, I just have had to watch for his cues, sniffing around, and would then take him out. Today, he actually went to the door and whined to get out. Quick learner, that boy!” -Christine
Foster families provide temporary, in-home care to needy dogs, care for energetic puppies to calm seniors, and help us make great matches with adopters. Last year, over 500 animals benefited from being in foster homes. The time commitment also varies, from 2-day kennel breaks to a couple months of quiet surgery rehab. In every case, fostering allows us to find out so much more about how this animal behaves in a normal home environment, and that helps our Adoption Counselors find a great home for each animal.
