How to Adopt a Kitten
We will not be posting individual kitten profiles or photos on our website.
To adopt a kitten (under 6 months) or pair of kittens from Homeward Pet, please follow these steps.
Adoption Process
1. Schedule your appointment to visit our available kittens.
New appointment slots open up on Mondays at 1:00 pm. The scheduling link remains active until all slots are filled for the week.
Schedule your appointment at a time that is convenient for you. Additional spots may open up throughout the week if cancellations occur, so check back frequently. Because of the limited number of appointments, please only schedule an appointment when you are ready to adopt.
*Note: We will open up only enough appointments for the kittens we will have available for adoption. It’s likely that earlier in the week, we’ll have more kittens available to meet. However, we can’t guarantee kittens will be available at your appointment time. We’ll do our best to call and inform you if your appointment needs rescheduling.
2. An Adoption Specialist will call you to confirm your appointment.
Prior to your appointment, one of our Adoption Specialists will call you to review our guidelines and answer any questions you may have about your appointment, adopting from Homeward Pet, and caring for kittens.
3. Come to the shelter for your appointment and meet our available kittens.
During your appointment, you’ll meet with an Adoption Specialist, who will introduce you to all of our available kittens, answer your questions, and help you determine if we have a kitten, or pair of kittens, that would be a good fit for your family and living situation.
To limit the number of people in the shelter, we ask that only two people from your household be present at the appointment. If you need to bring additional members of your household, we may admit them two at a time to meet the kitten(s) you’re considering adopting.
*Note: Kittens are brought to the shelter from foster homes when they are Available for adoption, and our goal is to adopt Available kittens to new homes as soon as possible. Failure to show up for a scheduled appointment or last-minute cancellation of your appointment may result in no longer being considered to adopt or make future appointments.
4. If you choose to adopt, the kitten(s) will go home with you the same day.
We’ll complete the adoption paperwork, which includes reviewing the animal’s medical records, completing microchip registration, signing our adoption contract and any available medical or behavior waivers, and paying the adoption fee. We’ll also provide you with information to help with the transition of an adopted kitten(s) to your home, and answer any questions that you may have.
