Maggie didn’t ask to be homeless, and we know you’re here for her.
11 year old Maggie arrived at Homeward Pet after both of her owners had to enter memory care. Overwhelmed by her growing senior needs, her family made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her, hoping she could find a quiet home for her golden years. Her sweet demeanor and the gentle way she carries her favorite stuffies show just how deeply she was loved.
Maggie came to us suffering from severe dental disease, causing her to struggle with eating and even with carrying her favorite toys.
Our medical team removed most of her teeth, leaving her with just five in the back. While she’s uncomfortable as she heals, we know this will give her relief from the chronic pain. Because senior animals often hide their discomfort, we also ran a full health panel to catch any unseen issues.
At Homeward Pet, we refuse to cut corners, especially with our seniors. Small dogs frequently suffer from hidden dental disease, loosening joints, and kidney strain – all of which we discovered in Maggie’s results. Animals are stoic, often enduring pain silently rather than burdening their caretakers. We perform thorough diagnostics so adopting families do not begin their journey with sudden, costly emergencies.
Caring for seniors like Maggie takes significant resources, and with over 120 animals currently in our care, our daily expenses add up quickly. Just like planning your own household budget, we depend on reliable support to ensure every single pet gets the second chance they need.
We say yes to bringing in the bruised and broken, the old and the young, the homeless and forgotten, every day.
Committing to a monthly gift of $50 ensures that every vulnerable animal walking through our doors can receive the same level of care as soon as they arrive, and for the entirety of the time they are with us.
