The Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle
Peggy Barnish founded Homeward Pet Adoption Center (originally Hooterville’s Safehaus) with the idea that every homeless animal needs a home. With your commitment to Homeward Pet, you are ensuring her legacy, and yours, lives on.
“Including Homeward Pet Adoption Center in your estate plans ensures that your love and support for animals will continue beyond your own lifetime, provides a stable financial future for our organization, and helps countless animals in our community.
There are many ways your estate plans can help Homeward Pet and benefit the animals in our care, including a simple bequest, a Charitable Reminder Trust or Gift Annuity, or with a beneficiary designation on your IRA, retirement plan, or insurance policy.
When you notify Homeward Pet Adoption Center about your legacy gift, we enroll you into the Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle.
You will be invited to see a behind the scenes tour of the shelter, receive a discount code to attend other events benefiting Homeward Pet, and earn entry into our Companion Legacy Program.
Should you name Homeward Pet as a beneficiary in your will, trust, and/or financial accounts such as retirement, donor advised fund, brokerage or bank accounts, we would welcome a copy of the legal document or section of the document that accompanies your gift along with your Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle Enrollment Form. This can make estate administration easier when your gift is received.
Thank you for making Homeward Pet part of your legacy. Should you have any questions or would like the form to get started, please email our Development Manager, Molly, at molly@homewardpet.org.

Next Steps
As a loving pet owner, you plan ahead for nearly everything in your pet’s life; from meal times, to veterinary care and everything in between. Most of us expect to outlive our pets, but who should care for them if you are no longer able? To ensure that your pet continues to receive this level of care should something unexpected happen to you, it’s critical to plan ahead.
Our Companion Legacy Program offers peace of mind. We’ll help you make arrangements to ensure your pet’s care and safety. In the event of your medical incapacity or death, Homeward Pet will receive custody of your companions, where they will receive the love, shelter, food, training, and medical care they need – while we work to find them a new loving home.
Our Companion Legacy Program asks for a one-time, tax-deductible gift of $1,000 once your application is approved. Acceptance into this program is dependent on review of your pet’s needs, and their medical and behavioral history.
