Born in Washington, I have lived here my whole life and did all of my schooling here. Widowed in 2022 with three adult stepchildren, one step daughter-in-law and two gorgeous grandkids. I am very lucky that all of my family have stayed around Washington so we are able to see each other for all of the special occasions that happen in our lives. I started work at Microsoft in October 1999 and have been there ever since. Outside of work and volunteering with Homeward, I enjoy walking my dogs, getting cuddles from my kitties and working in my yard.
Why do you volunteer your time as a board member?
I started volunteering with HPAC in 2013 walking dogs and then joined the behavior team and I was at the shelter at minimum of 2 days a week. In 2018 we found out my husband had cancer and I stayed with my volunteer shifts for as long as I could but in 2021 I had to stop volunteering to stay home, but I ultimately lost him in 2022 as a very hard battle. With my 5 babies at home, trying to work and take care of everything at home, I knew that committing to coming back as a volunteer wouldn’t work. Instead I started fostering again in 2022 and still wanted to do more, so when the an email came out asking if anyone wanted to join the board, I sent in an email asking to be considered and I started on the board in January of 2025.
2026 committees: Philanthropy (chair), Governance
Tell us about any pets you have at home:
I have two kitties, Gizmo and Dexter who are 14 years old that are brothers from an accidental litter that my coworkers kitty had and I have three dogs (all HPAC alum/foster fails) Bubba who is 12 years old, Gracie who is 7 and Franklin who just turned 2.
