- Event Support: Event Volunteers help represent Homeward Pet at our fundraisers and community outreach occasions. You’ll assist with tasks such as greeting and engaging event attendees, supporting setup and breakdown of event materials, helping with activities or information tables, and sharing Homeward Pet’s mission with the public. This role is vital to the success of large events like our annual Fur Ball and 5K as well as smaller third party community events throughout the year. Volunteers must be positive, punctual, able to interact well with people of all ages and come ready to have fun! You must be at least 18 years old. - Food Bank: Food Bank volunteers help support the intake, preparation, and distribution of donations that serve both our shelter and community partners. These roles are essential to maintaining a steady flow of donations throughout the week and ensuring items are sorted, logged, and distributed effectively. Positions include Donation Transfer & Intake Support, Donation Sorting, Logging & Placement, and Food Bank Distribution Prep. - Foster Supply Re-Stocker: The Foster Supply Re-Stocker helps keep our foster supply area organized by tidying and restocking shelves and putting away incoming items. This role works closely with our Foster Program Coordinator. Weekly 1-hour shifts with a 3-month minimum commitment. - Cat Care Volunteer: The Cat Care Volunteer helps provide daily care for shelter cats by feeding, cleaning, maintaining Cat Room spaces, and socializing cats using fear-free handling techniques. Volunteers help support a clean, safe, and low-stress environment for the animals in our care. Morning and evening shifts are available. Volunteers must be 16 years or older. - Facilities: Facilities volunteers are involved in all areas of shelter operation. They are responsible for distributing supplies, doing special projects, and maintaining a clean, safe environment throughout the shelter and surrounding grounds. Reception: Receptionists are responsible for greeting and assisting members of the public who contact Homeward Pet either in person or on the phone. Ability to communicate with a positive demeanor, adjust to dynamic situations, and desire to support members of our community are key skills. Full training and on-call support is provided by staff, please read the Receptionist Job Description. Receptionists commit to one shift per week; shifts are daily Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30am-2:30pm or 2:30pm-5:30pm You must be at least 16 years old. Apply here.
Dog Care: Dog Care volunteers are responsible for walking, feeding and socializing our dogs and puppies, and maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment. Dog Care Volunteers work one shift per week; daily shifts are 9-11:30 am or 6-8 pm. Positions include Dog Walker, and Feeder/Cleaner. You must be at least 18 years old.
Clinic Assistant: Clinic Assistant volunteers assist the veterinary staff with clinic protocol and procedures, including general cleaning, sterilizing surgical implements, confirming appointments and completing paperwork. A Clinic Assistant must have strong animal, people, telephone and organizational skills. Clinic Assistants work one shift per week; Monday – Friday shifts. Read the Clinic Assistant job description.
