HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Barnaby has been with Homeward Pet for six months, and if you ask him or the dozens of people dedicated to his care that is six months too long.
When Barnaby first arrived at our doors, it was obvious shelter life wasn’t for him. He was anxious and afraid, overwhelmed by the noise and activity that comes with living in a shelter. He wasn’t eating, and would nervously spin in his kennel. Adopters weren’t exactly lining up at the doors for little Barnaby and after spending three months at the shelter, his behavior was regressing.
Barnaby needed extra support. More than we could provide at the shelter. What he needed was a foster family. As an active Terrier, he needed a home where he had a routine. Where people could show him that he could love and could trust. Where he could relax and be part of a family. The Bradleys – including Kacy, her husband, two cats and three dogs – were ready to show him the ropes!
Three months in foster care and Barnaby has had an amazing transformation. He has put on weight. His coat, once patchy and dull, is thick and shining. And that’s not all! He has gone from being nervous and stressed to happy, peppy and playful! Today, Barnaby enjoys romping around the yard, cuddling, playing with the other dogs, going for hikes and revels in a good car ride. He makes epic blanket nests, digs in the yard, and gives surprise hugs by wrapping his two front paws around peoples’ legs. Kacy says her favorite thing about Barnaby is how “devoted and loyal he is.”
Barnaby’s journey shows just how life-changing a home and family can be. More than that, Barnaby’s confidence has grown so much that his charming character and adorable quirks shine through.
What Barnaby deserves most now, is a family of his own. Spread the word and help us find this quirky, lovable terrier a home for the holidays.
