Homeward Pet Dog Behavior Volunteer, Mike, shared with us his training session with Arial.
“Obviously we practiced a bit before the cameras started rolling. 🙂 She caught on pretty quickly, though. “Table” took a bit of shaping, but once she figured it out, and what an easy payday it was, she started volunteering it. Probably so she could get a better view. ”

“Especially around Christmas, I get to thinking about the pets that have joined my family over the years. Homeward has played such a big part in my family in this way. 9 years ago my parents adopted two kittens to join our family – they’re still very kitten-like and enjoy pestering the 15 year-old cat sisters that also live in the house. About 7 years ago, my grandparents decided to adopt an oddly-tempered dog named Ginger. She barked, cowered and wouldn’t eat for the first few days, but she became their most loyal companion and an invaluable member of the family.
Two years ago, it was my turn to start my own pet family. I adopted a pair of cats that had grown up together and needed to stay in the same home – Cuddles and Boo. Now Pipa and Kebap, they continue to enrich my life and be welcome faces in the boarding school where I work. In the holiday season, Homeward has always given me much to be thankful for.”
