SUPER DONORS DESERVE A SUPER THANK YOU!
$25,088 was raised on GivingTuesday to help the animals!
The magnitude of your love and the strength in your hearts truly shined on #GivingTuesday when you heeded the call. Now, hundreds of homeless animals who come through Homeward Pet’s doors will have bright futures this holiday season.
Thank you for being the hero every cat and dog deserves!
Barley had a day out of the shelter with Homeward Pet volunteers, Kim and Beth.
Learn more about Barley here – come meet him during adoption hours; Wed-Sun, 12-6pm.
But that night, he was all alone. A Good Samaritan saw Patrick limping along a busy city street, terrified and hurt.
And they did what you or I would do; they scooped him up and rushed him to the nearest vet. Because of caring individuals like you, and Homeward Pet’s network of supporters, we had the resources to provide this tiny, injured dog with extraordinary medical care, time to heal and a chance to be someone’s pet again.
First, Patrick was stabilized with overnight emergency care. The following morning, bandaged, matted and without a home to call his own, Patrick was welcomed to Homeward Pet.
His initial exam with Homeward Pet’s veterinarians indicated his right front elbow was causing him extreme pain. X-rays revealed a chip fracture in his elbow. Patrick’s consulting surgeon recommended a conservative approach to his care. He would need time to rest and a splint to aid in healing.
In the meantime, we addressed Patrick’s other health issues: a major dental surgery resulted in 23 extractions, a special soft food diet helped bring him up to a healthy weight; and his crusty ears were cleaned and medicated. Six weeks later, at Patrick’s next orthopedic consult, it was determined there was very little chance of his elbow improving and the best course of action would be to amputate his leg. Patrick’s surgery at Homeward Pet was a great success. After months of care and consultations, tests and treatments, the agony he had been living in was a thing of the past. Patrick recovered from surgery in the comfort of his foster home and, just a week after returning to the shelter, met his forever family. Thanks to you, Patrick is someone’s pet again.
The cost of extraordinary care may be great, but the reward – seen on the face of every animal now living pain-free – is priceless. You can be the champion ALL animals deserve by making a meaningful gift today! Your heroic act this #GivingTuesday will provide countless dogs and cats with medical aid and care this holiday season.
Sincerely,

“Shady Lady (formerly just “Lady”) adopted me in July and has stolen neighborhood hearts on her weight-reduction forays — rain or shine. Having lost 5 extra pudgy pounds, she’s gained a new, sexy
stride and oh-so jaunty bouncing strut. Her hips are less stiff, and she is content to snooze under her Cougar blanket (picture attached)– when not following her oh-so Beagle nose. Who says an 11 year old matron can’t be alluring?
